
DFOWW Incorporated Board of Directors are committed to improving the lives of underserved, communities and families with children here in Atlanta, Georgia. We believe that everyone should possess the necessary skills to effectively communicate.
Through our Write-Right Literacy Program, we teach online and in-person community academic Reasoning Through Language Arts GED preparation classes free of charge. We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to learn to read and write-right. DFOWW Incorporated Write-Right Literacy Program is a 3.5 month literacy program. Below you will find a break down of how the program is structured:
Must be 18 years of age and up, and a USA resident to register
At-risk 16 & 17 year old youth seeking enrollment will only be considered with verifiable parental consent
The program is for individuals seeking to obtain their GED
Spring Semester: February 20, 2023 – June 7, 2023
Students must submit their application by the following dates:
Registration begins January 23, 2023 and the deadline to register is February 15, 2023
Program Details:
The program meets Common Core State Standards and will prepare the participants for the Reasoning Through Language Arts Portion of the state GED test (McGraw-Hill Education) (Language Arts Workbook For The GED Test). The curriculum will cover:
- Reading for meaning/Reading informational text & Reading comprehension
- Reading literary text
- Identifying and Creating Arguments
- Building vocabulary & Reading comprehension
- Sentence types and sentence structure
- Reading informational text & Reading comprehension
- Foundations of writing/composition
- Parts of speech (nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs; articles, pronouns, prepositions, conjunctions)
- Punctuation
- Monday June 5, 2023 – Final exam
- Wednesday June 7, 2023 – Graduation Date
