Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recognize July as National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month: This observance aims to bring awareness to the unique struggles that racial and ethnic minority communities face regarding mental illness in the United States. Fewer than half of African American adults received care for mental health in 2020, and Asian Americans were significantly less likely to receive mental health treatment than non-Hispanic Whites in 2018. Obstacles include a lack of health insurance, less access to treatment, and stigma.

DFOWW Incorporated’s Free Food and Grocery Distribution Eligibility Requirements
Free food and grocery distribution eligibility requirements include but are not limited to the following: Must be enrolled in the Write-Right Nutrition Program. Must attend an in-person nutrition literacy workshop before being eligible to receive assistance. Nutrition literacy workshops are hosted monthly. Date, time and location of nutrition literacy workshops will be published in the announcement category on our official website. Must receive SNAP or TANF benefits. Proof of identity during food pickup is also required.
Once an application for enrollment in the Write-Right Nutrition Program (WRNP) is submitted, please allow a minimum of 45 days for processing. While the Write-Right Nutrition Program provides supplemental free food and groceries to low-income individuals and families with children, a core component of the program includes nutrition literacy education.
We prioritize our free food distributions for individuals and families with children enrolled in our nutrition program (Write-Right Nutrition Program). Verification of SNAP or TANF benefits in the form of an award letter or acknowledgement of benefit letter from the agency of jurisdiction along with a copy of current valid government issued ID are requirements for acceptance into the program.
Applicants will be required to attend an in-person nutrition literacy workshop and provide verification of the above listed items before being eligible to pick up free food. Simply filling out an application to enroll into the Write-Right Nutrition Program does not automatically guarantee your acceptance; you still need to meet the program’s eligibility criteria and will need to undergo an interview and verification process to be approved.
Funding availability:
The Write-Right Nutrition Program has limited funding, meaning even if you meet income-based eligibility requirements, your acceptance is not guaranteed. Other factors like overall suitability for the program will also play a significant role in the decision-making process.
When considering acceptance into the Write-Right Nutrition Program factors like income level, household size, dietary needs, health conditions, geographic location, access to healthy food, existing nutrition knowledge, willingness to participate in nutrition literacy educational workshops, and potential for behavior change will be evaluated alongside eligibility criteria based on income guidelines and demographics.
Please note DFOWW Incorporated does not provide transportation services of any kind to those enrolled in our programs or for those who wish to attend our in-person workshops. We do not provide food delivery services, including covering fees for Uber, Lyft, Marta etc. Individuals who are enrolled in our programs and/or who meet the free food and grocery distribution eligibility requirements are required to provide their own transportation.

The Write-Right Nutrition Program (WRNP)
This program addresses food insecurity challenges disproportionately impacting low-income communities and families with children. Under this program, we host low-cost community workshops in which all participants receive nutrition literacy information and a complimentary, healthy meal. Low-income families with children and/or primary caretakers of children under 17 who experience food insecurity, can apply to enroll in the WRNP program. Eligible applicants will receive free food and grocery items contingent on available grant funding.
While local food banks often provide exigent, necessary food to those in need, the Write-Right Nutrition Program (WRNP) provides nutritious meals to families with children along with nutrition literacy education workshops. This allows participants to obtain, process and understand nutrition information and skills needed to make appropriate nutrition related decisions. The Write-Right Nutrition program consists of 6 in-person workshops totaling 24 hours of curriculum for the whole family. A certificate of completion will be awarded to participants who complete all 6 workshops. The Write-Right Nutrition Program is our nonprofit organization’s core program, and it is free for all kids 17 years of age and under.
Our nonprofit organization DFOWW Incorporated is hosting a free indoor plant pop-up fundraiser sale on Saturday July 26, 2025, from 11:00am – 2:00pm. This event will be held at Norcross Cultural Arts and Community Center, 10 College St NW Norcross, Georgia 30071. All plant purchases come with a free gift.
Plant selections include but not limited to the following, Thai Constellation Monstera, Tortum Philodendron, Esqueleto Monstera, Silver Dragon Alocasia, Little Swiss Monstera, Moonlight Scindapsus, Raven ZZ, Baltic Blue Pothos, Peru Monstera, Pink princess philodendron, Calathea plant, Alocasia jacklyn, Geogenanthus (rare), Prayer plant, philodendrons, Zamioculcas, Snake plant, Money tree, Peace lily, Lucky bamboo, Anthurium, Geraniums, Black-eyed Susans, Coneflowers, Shasta daisies, Hollyhocks, Lavender, Lilies, Lupines, Primroses, Russian Sage, Clematis Daffodils, Baby’s Breath, Tulips, Bee Balms, Mother of Thyme, Digitalis Dalmatian (Foxglove), Amsonia (Blue Star), Shasta Daisy, Hostas, False Indigo (Baptisia), Phlox, Hydrangeas, Stonecrop (Sedum), Astereae (Asters) Bromeliads, and array of other indoor and outdoor plants. The Write-Right Entrepreneurship Program (WREP)
WREP provides guidance to entrepreneurs who are passionate about a cause on how to start a non-profit in Georgia, as well as the sustainability of the non-profit through pecuniary resources, grants, and funding. The program also provides mentorship and guidance to youth wanting to be entrepreneurs. Many people want to start their own businesses but lack the skills and resources to become an entrepreneur. However, entrepreneurship paves the way for generating wealth and higher earnings. The benefits of owning a business extend beyond the business that is established. Entrepreneurs improve the lives of individuals, communities, and the overall economy. Entrepreneurship promotes innovation and self-reliance, as well as generates employment opportunities.
Grant writing is a valuable and often crucial skill to have, particularly for nonprofits and individuals seeking funding for projects. It’s a specialized skill that allows individuals and organizations to secure funding for their initiatives. Grant writing provides access to significant funding for projects and initiatives without needing to repay the money back. Did you know that LLCs formed as for-profit entities can be eligible to apply for certain grant funding, particularly from government agencies and private foundations that offer grants specifically designed for small businesses?
Grant writing involves crafting persuasive narratives, researching funding opportunities, and managing the grant application process which is essential for securing those critical funds for your nonprofit organization and LLC for-profit small business. Registration is now open to attend our July 26th Grant Writing 101 Workshop.

- Understand common requests on grant applications and how to answer them correctly

The Write-Right Literacy Program (WRLP)
The Write-Right Literacy Program is a series of in-person and virtual workshops aligned with the common core standards and are designed to address literacy achievement challenges unique to low-income communities and families with children. The WRLP was developed to assist low-income individuals over 18 without a high school diploma to take the Reasoning Through Language Arts portion of the state GED test. At-risk 16- and 17-year-old youth seeking enrollment will only be considered with verifiable parental consent. The WRLP is listed on the National Literacy Directory (NLD) website.

All monthly special readings, writing workshops, and the WRLP schedules will be available in our website’s Announcement category on the sixth calendar day of each month. Please note that the date may change depending on national holidays and the board of directors’ recess periods. We have also updated our Logophiles word game rules. Winners will receive $25.
We are currently seeking technical writers, computer science majors, I.T. specialists, editors, grant writers, English teachers, and those with marketing and finance experience to serve on our board of directors.
