Write-Right Nutrition Program (WRNP) — Nutrition, Healthy Living & Housing Education Workshop Registration

The Write-Right Nutrition Program (WRNP) is DFOWW Incorporated’s education-based program that combines nutrition education, healthy living information and practical community education. Depending on the workshop, participants may learn about nutrition, food, healthy living, housing, fair housing, and other practical skills that can help individuals and families in everyday life.

HEALTHY HOUSING & HOUSING LITERACY

DFOWW Incorporated may also offer a Healthy Housing & Housing Literacy Workshop as part of the Write-Right Nutrition Program. These educational workshops provide practical information about housing, fair housing, housing stability, documentation, reasonable accommodations, housing discrimination and where to look for additional help.

Housing topics may include:

– Safe and healthy housing

– Housing stability

– Understanding basic lease information

– Basic tenant responsibilities

– Basic landlord responsibilities

– Keeping important housing records

– Preparing for housing inspections

– Disability-related reasonable accommodations

– Basic information about housing discrimination

– How to ask questions about housing problems

– Finding housing assistance and community resources

– Finding organizations that may provide housing or legal help

The Write-Right Nutrition Program is not limited to food. Our goal is to provide practical education that can help participants make informed decisions about food, health, housing and daily living.

Low-Income Program Participation Rate

We offer a reduced rate for eligible low-income participants who receive SNAP or TANF benefits. SNAP or TANF verification is required. Eligible participants may choose one of the following rates:

$25 per adult, per workshop

OR

$40 per household, per workshop

The $40 household rate is for an eligible low-income family with children. Children under 17 may participate with a registered adult at no additional Program Participation Fee. The $25 adult rate and $40 household rate are alternative rates. They are not added together. Eligibility for the reduced rate must be verified before enrollment is approved.

Standard Community Program Participation Rate

Participants who do not qualify for the reduced rate may use the standard rate:

$75 per adult, per workshop

Children under 17 may participate with a registered adult at no additional Program Participation Fee.

What If I Cannot Afford the Program Participation Fee?

DFOWW Incorporated is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization. We do not have guaranteed funding to pay or reduce individual Program Participation Fees. The reduced Low-Income Program Participation Rate is available to eligible participants who meet the SNAP or TANF verification requirements.

If you need help paying the fee, you may look for assistance from community organizations, charitable programs, sponsors or other resources. DFOWW Incorporated cannot guarantee that outside financial assistance will be available.

How to Request Enrollment

Step 1: Review the Workshop Information

Please read the workshop description and participation requirements before registering. Review the Program Participation Fee information and any eligibility requirements.

Step 2: Submit the Applicable Program Participation Fee

Step 3: Complete the Registration Form

After submitting the applicable Program Participation Fee, complete the online registration form. Please provide accurate information. If you are requesting the Low-Income Program Participation Rate, DFOWW Incorporated may need to verify your SNAP or TANF eligibility.

Step 4: Enrollment Review

Submitting payment and a registration form is a request for enrollment. It does not automatically guarantee a workshop seat.

DFOWW Incorporated will review the registration request.

We will provide additional information about your enrollment request after it has been reviewed. The food is supplemental. The education is the investment.

Is the Write-Right Nutrition Program a food pantry? No.

The Write-Right Nutrition Program is an education program. We teach practical skills about nutrition, food, healthy living & housing education, fair housing, and other topics offered through our workshops. When donated food is available, it may be provided as supplemental food during certain program activities. Food is not guaranteed. If you need emergency groceries, you should contact a food pantry or emergency food program in your area.

The Program Participation Fee is for program participation. It is not payment for donated food. Is food guaranteed? No.

Food depends on donations and available resources. DFOWW Incorporated cannot guarantee a certain food item, brand, amount or dollar value. The food is supplemental. The education is the investment.

Can my children participate? Yes. Children under 17 may participate with a registered adult at no additional Program Participation Fee.

What if I cannot afford the Program Participation Fee?

DFOWW Incorporated does not have guaranteed funding to pay individual Program Participation Fees. Eligible participants may request the reduced Low-Income Program Participation Rate by providing the required SNAP or TANF verification. You may also look for assistance from other community organizations, charitable programs or sponsors. DFOWW Incorporated cannot guarantee that outside assistance will be available.

Does paying the Program Participation Fee guarantee a workshop seat? No.

Payment and registration are a request to participate. A workshop seat is not guaranteed until DFOWW Incorporated completes the enrollment process. Enrollment may depend on eligibility, required information, program rules and available space.

Why may enrollment take time?

Some registrations require eligibility verification or review of information. We may also need to confirm available workshop space. We will contact you about your enrollment request.

Supplemental Food Assistance Outside the Workshop

DFOWW Incorporated understands that some people may need supplemental food assistance but may not be ready to participate in a workshop. When resources and program capacity allow, DFOWW Incorporated may offer a separate Community Assistance Pathway. This is separate from the Write-Right Nutrition Program workshop. Participation may depend on:

– Available donated food

– Donor restrictions

– Food-safety requirements

– DFOWW Incorporated policies

– Available volunteers

– Distribution capacity

– Other program requirements

If DFOWW establishes a $20 Program Participation Fee per household for a Community Assistance Pathway distribution, the fee supports the costs of operating the charitable program. The $20 fee is not a purchase price for food. It does not guarantee a specific amount, type, brand or value of donated food.

Why Are There Costs Even When Food Is Donated?

DFOWW Incorporated may receive donated food without charge. However, safely recovering and distributing food still costs money. Costs may include:

– Fuel

– Transportation

– Vehicle expenses

– Refrigeration

– Freezer space

– Food-safe storage

– Equipment

– Insurance

– Food-safety supplies

– Distribution supplies

– Volunteer coordination

– Administration

– Community outreach

DFOWW Incorporated does not have guaranteed government funding to cover all of these costs. Program Participation Fees, donations, sponsorships, grants, volunteer service and community partnerships help support our charitable programs.

Can I Pay the $20 Fee and Receive Food Instead of Attending a Workshop? No.

The Community Assistance Pathway and Write-Right Nutrition Program workshops are separate programs. The $20 fee, when used, is a Program Participation Fee. It is not payment for food. Participation and any food assistance depend on available food, program rules, donor restrictions, food-safety requirements and available resources.

Why Should I Take a Workshop?

A food distribution may help with an immediate need. A workshop can help you build skills that you can continue using. Depending on the workshop, you may learn:

The goal is to give you information and skills that can continue helping you and your household.

Important Program Notice

All workshops, meals and supplemental food assistance depend on available program resources. This may include available funding, donations, volunteers, facilities, equipment and program capacity. DFOWW Incorporated may have reasonable rules for registration and participation. Taking a workshop does not guarantee future food assistance. It also does not guarantee a particular food item, amount of food or value of donated goods.

The Healthy Housing & Housing Literacy Workshop provides general educational information. DFOWW Incorporated does not provide legal representation or legal advice. Housing laws and rules can vary depending on a person’s situation and location. If you have a specific housing dispute or legal problem, you should seek help from a qualified housing counselor, fair housing organization, legal aid organization or attorney.

When resources are available, DFOWW Incorporated may provide information about organizations that may be able to help. Participation in the workshop does not create an attorney-client relationship.

Media & Photography

DFOWW Incorporated may take photographs or videos during workshops, community events, food distributions, volunteer activities and other charitable activities. We may use these photographs or recordings for legitimate charitable and organizational purposes. Examples include:

A Media Release & Photography Policy may apply to participation in DFOWW Incorporated workshops, programs and community events. Participants will be told when a separate Media Release form is required. Participants must review and complete any required Media Release form before participating in an activity that requires it.

For anyone under 18, a parent or legal guardian must complete any required authorization. Submitting this registration form does not replace a separate Media Release form when one is required. If you do not agree to the Media Release & Photography Policy for an activity where media consent is required, please do not submit a registration request for that activity.
